I've been in a few of these and things happened that I knew I didn't deserve and I still stayed to try to fight for the relationship to work.. One situation was this...

I was landing back in LA one morning after visiting my family over Thanksgiving and my boyfriend at the time and I planned that I would pick him up to get lunch. When I landed he wasn't answering his phone. I called and texted him a few times, but I figured he was still asleep. He lived close to the airport so I still went over to wake him up. When I got there, his roommate answered the door, but my boyfriend wasn't there and his roommate didn't know where he was. I drove 40 minutes home after that and didn't hear from him until the next day. He said he had fallen asleep at the studio, but we were already having trust issues and I didn't believe him. The next day I went to meet him at his studio which was 30 minutes away and when I got there to pick him up he said he'd be out in a few minutes. I ended up waiting there for him for 2 hours in my car.. my stupid ass so deep in love. Lol He kept making excuse after excuse and I wanted to believe him soo bad because I truly thought he was better than that, so I stayed and kept fighting. I was young and still learning what I wanted, but eventually it got to the point where I couldn't take it any longer and I did break up with him.
